If your tattoo is in the healing process and it becomes raised
or looks like a scab it's not always a bad thing. More often than not when a tattoo looks raised or scabby,
it's because your tattoo is solid fill and solid filling pushes a lot of pigment into the skin in a tighter area. The
"scabbing" you may be experiencing is likely just the extra pigment coming to the surface and peeling.
Sometimes, especially with red and black inks, which are very
high in pigment content, the extra pigment comes to the surface and will look hard or crusty, sometimes even looking glossed
over or lighter than the actual color. Not to worry, given proper aftercare your tattoo will heal out just as it should. Try
using non-scented lotion daily. Or if it's really bad, break open a Vitamin E gel capsule and rub in onto your
affected areas.
